Kim & German visit England

Cousin Kim and German popped into Marlow for a delightful (but much too short) visit.  German spent the week prior to the visit biking 100 miles a day through the mountains of Scotland with a broken rib and inflamed hernia.  (I stub my toe in the middle of the night and curse bloody murder...). Kim jetted over to join German in Edinburgh and to visit Manchester England where she was born.

They spent their first full day of their visit sightseeing in Oxford.  On Friday we dusted off the ol' Pub Walks of the Chiltern Valley' and tempted fate by hiking the same trails in Hambledon where I led the Bowers Family of RI astray.  Luckily we found our way to the pub without getting lost.

That doesn't mean that we didn't run into trouble.  A few minutes into our journey a cow (or was it a bull?) was blocking our path.  It literally backed its rear-end into this kissing gate that we needed to pass through.

German and friends assessing the situation.

Before German could work up the nerve to slap the cow on its bottom we were 'saved' by some locals that were out walking their dog.

On with the hike!

After a nice pub lunch at the Stag it was time to drop off German at the train station so that he could head into London to meet some mates for the opening night of the Rugby World Cup. But not first without the official tour of Marlow!

Thankfully we had one last night with Kim before it was time for her to meet German and friends on Saturday for some live rugby action.

Kim read the Book with No Pictures before bedtime - the boys were in stitches

Kim also managed to squeeze in a couple of walks behind our house to visit the tunnel, gardens and the river.

Thanks for the visit!  We all enjoyed having you.  Next time we'll go cow tipping...
