This story begins late on Friday night, the day before the party. Day in London and not home until 6pm, followed by kids dinner, tub for 4 (they really had to), bedtime routine for 4, dinner for adults and start party prep by 10pm. That means start on cake decorating. Let me preface by saying that I do not bake - except when it comes to birthdays - meaning Mark's and the boys. Two times per year. O & H put the request in for pirate ship cakes- one Jake and the other Captain Hook. Sure! No problem! I can do that! I spent some time on pintrest and stole a few ideas. I must say they came out better than I thought they would and the boys loved them- so really, in the end that is all that matters.
Thank you Stephanie for staying up VERY late with me to create the boys cakes. Not sure if I would have gone to bed that night if you weren't here. And of course thank you to the guys for doing all of the extra decorating and last minute touches (even if it involved some extra beverages).
Craig making the "sand" for the island.
Mark tying the treasure maps for the treasure hunt.
Ta Da!!
Pirate costumes all around! Seriously, I bought so many costumes I could open up a small store.
My friend Emma with her two, Ollie and Beth.
Happy pirate dance!
Henry dueling with my friend Annie's, Ollie. Ollie's little brother Ned goes to school with the boys. Yes, we had 3 Oliver and two and a half Beth's in the house.
Mark was the head pirate for the treasure hunt.
Everyone racing to the next clue.
They found the treasure!!
Let there be cake(s)!
After the party, the Goryl's checked out the path that leads to the tunnel in the back of our house.
Then came back for some swinging. With Henry still in full costume.
It was a really great day and the boys had such a good time..." it was the best party ever Mom", "Mom your the best cake maker", "the treasure hunt and cake were my favorite". They are still talking about it. It was worth every single minute and I felt lucky to have some of my family there to share with. Wish you could have all been there but I know we will be sharing birthdays again before you know it!
Shout out to Stephanie for taking such awesome pictures! Thank you!
