And now on with our short but amazing holiday in Nice! This happened to be a kid free trip because my amazing sister and brother-in-law, Alyssa and Adam, offered to watch them while passing through on their honeymoon. Yes, I know, we owe them.
Nice was beautiful. The beach, the shops, the cafes, the food, the vibe...all of it was lovely. We spent the first day walking all around Nice. We had no agenda, no place to be at a certain time and no one to answer to. We spent the second day on the beach and later in the day took a taxi to Cannes, which is further down the coast. Cannes is bigger, a little less quaint but still pretty. There are many, many high end shops that line the beach strip and several fancy beach front restaurants. Overall, we were glad that we stayed in Nice, it was more our style.
Where we stayed: Hotel Negresco
When you walk into the hotel you feel like you are in a museum- so many pieces to look at (like the above statue). Every floor has several works of art displayed - some eclectic, some contemporary, some ancient...
It was different and fun to look at.
We asked for a large. Ask and you shall receive.
Childish, yes, but it had to be done.
View from our room.
Hi Mark!
Now Cannes...
A palace for you Stephanie.
Back in Nice for a night cap.
The third day we spent our time on the beach. Doing nothing. Well, some reading, but basically nothing. It was the best way to end our short trip.
Back at home all was going wonderfully. Alyssa and Adam successfully got the kids up, packed up lunches and bags and got them to school for two days and also managed to see some local sites. Alyssa had only driven on the left side of the road for a total of 15 minutes before we left for Nice. I give major props to her for taking on such a feat with no complaints! Thank you Mark for this wonderful get away and thank you Alyssa and Adam because with out you it wouldn't have been possible. I will put your Oscar in the mail.
Let us not forget about the cancelled, then rebooked and then further delayed by 2 hours flight trying to get home. Air traffic control strikes are awesome, said no one ever.
We made it home before the kids woke up- barely.

It looks like you had absolutely amazing time! You look so well rested and seem to really enjoy your mini-vacation! I love the couple pictures too! xoxo
