Tara & Heidi Visit England

We had the absolute pleasure of having Tara & Heidi visit us for a few days.  They escaped more than 7 feet of snow in New England to come to balmy Old England.

The whole Bowers family was excited to have these two lovely ladies @ Fairfield House.

The boys put them straight to work.

After a  quick day of recuperating from jet lag we went on the patent-pending, Bowers' one day express  tour of London.

First stop was Buckingham Palace where were lucky enough to catch the changing of the guards.

                                                                     Next stop Trafalgar Square.

                            Roar!

Horse Guards (curiously now behind velvet ropes)

Big Ben, Parliament. Its hard to believe that its been 23 years since we met in Cance Hall @ UMass! We haven't aged a bit...

Checking in on the kids back home.

"Griffin did what?"

The remainder of the tour included Piccadilly Circus, Theatre District, Chinatown, and Covent Garden.  We also visited several "historic" pubs along the way.

After church on Sunday it was a tour of Marlow, Hambleden Village, including lunch at the Stag and Huntsman (of course) and Turville to visit the windmill.  They handled driving on the other side of the road and down the very narrow country roads really well, although at one point Tara asked why I was driving so fast when I was in fact driving about 10 MPH below the speed limit...

Lovely Marlow. Someone should put this picture on a tea towel...

St. Peter's Church

Like this blog, their visit was short and sweet but the memories will last a lifetime.
