Sweet Chestnuts!

Yes, chestnuts.  Our driveway is basically in an alley of trees. You can imagine the surprises left on my car that the kids and I walk out to each morning . Let's just say I'm giving the only car wash in town some good business.  Up until a few days ago, I would put the trees in the category of just ordinary. Some of them produce the biggest leaves I've ever seen, but still ordinary.  About a week ago, Mark and I both noticed these round, spiky type green balls spattered along the back of the driveway.  Over the past day or two, maybe due to the rain fall, our entire back of the driveway is now covered in these things.  See below.

Of course I Googled it and apparently they are edible sweet chestnuts.

As opposed to the NON- edible chestnuts. The skull and bones really sends the message.

I can assure you that I'm most likely not going to try them out because I don't trust my web search that much. However, we have to find someway to dispose of them because they hurt when you touch them.  Great for kids.  Maybe I can put them in the corners of my house to scare off the larger than life spiders.

I'm not kidding. These are the "house" spiders I've told a few of you about.  We haven't seen one in awhile but there was a good stretch of time when I was horrifying the boys with my screams.  I'm not a spider person.

Aren't you glad you read my blog today? ;)

Cheers!

  1. Hiss and boo to your speeding ticket. That is so silly....

Those chestnuts are quite interesting and annoying, if I say so myself. Could they be a fun art project?
