Honeymoon?

Aren't you supposed to spend your only honeymoon with your 4 year old nephews??? Apparently Alyssa and Adam didn't get the memo.

In all seriousness, originally it was supposed to be just a trip out to see us, but they were smart and added other cool destinations to their trip, like Iceland and Belgium. and voilĂ - honeymoon.  We were lucky enough to be their middle stop. It was smart of  them to plan a destination after ours because...well, do I really need to explain?   Mark and I were lucky enough to sneak away for 3 of those days to Nice. It was such a nice treat to come home to my sister and Adam- and of course our kids :)

The rest of the week went something like this:

                                                                     Pirate play

 Attack of the pirates

Pirates in football holds.

Pirates at the park.

Pirates at the restaurants.

And some serious conversations as well...

Auntie Alyssa doesn't look like she is buying whatever Oliver is selling.

If I tried to explain how much Henry adored having Uncle Adam here, I wouldn't do it justice.  Henry was glued to Adam as much as he is glued to his pirate costume.  Enough said.

Pirate puzzles.

Oh and then we all escaped Pirate land together! We took Alyssa and Adam into London for dinner and to see Wicked. Little did we know that it was gay pride day - so it was a little busy on Regent Street. It is always busy on Regent Street, but this was, roads closed, parties in the street, public dancing and drinking kind of busy.

Wicked was wicked awesome. We all agreed it was amazing and thank goodness because it was Alyssa's first time seeing a big Broadway production. We aim to please, Alyssa, we aim to please.

Other noteworthy days during their stay...a day in London sightseeing, a day in Henley, a day walking around Hambleden and a day with me in Turville.

On Sunday, Mark and Adam took the boys on a boat down the river to view some gardens. Alyssa and I had a shopping day :)

Just for the record, Adam puts my story telling to shame.  He actually has a different voice for every single character, including sound effects. The kids were enthralled.
Alyssa, not so much.

This was a good day. It was the day the pirate costumes took a break and we created Toy Story in our back garden. Alyssa was so excited for the change of scenery she dressed up as Jesse in Toy Story. She braided her hair and everything! Thanks for going all in Aunt Alyssa!

Alyssa and Adam's adventure didn't end here.  Their departure train out of London ended up being cancelled due to the transportation strike in Belgium.  They were then forced to spend another day and night with us (yay for us!)  Despite the delay in their plans, it was really a treat to have them for an extra day.  We selfishly enjoyed every single minute.

Alyssa and Adam, thank you for spending some of your honeymoon with us and thank you for caring for Oliver and Henry while Mark and I got away for a bit.  We love you and miss you both!
