History in the making

What type of history you ask? Well, not the best that is for sure.  We are witnessing the rainiest winter in the past 250 years. I believe it may have reached the news back in the US.  What does this mean for us in Marlow? Take a look below.  The Thames River has had enough and so have the people living on it.

Here is a pretty map showing an outline of the Thames and the area hit hardest. We are right between Reading and Slough.

The park we frequent is in the left hand corner of the picture above- almost completely covered by water.  Hundreds of people are being forced out of their homes. Fortunately, our home has not been affected because we are on a hill.  They are also predicting snow at some point and I hear that the world around here stops if it does.  There are a lot of roads closed right now, so I can't imagine what snow will do.

Here are a few more pics of the park taken by me. We now have a fire crew set up there 24/7 as it has continued to get higher over the past 24 hours.  It is actually pushing pretty close to High Street (Main Street).

When people told us it rains a lot in England we weren't expecting this. Seriously.

  1. Oh my goodness. So so sad. I'm glad you are okay but can't believe the park and Marlow is under such conditions. xoxo
